Making a Great First Impression Will Land You The JobMaking a Great First Impression Will Land You The JobStep 1 Identify Your TargetStep 2 Create a Compelling absatzwirtschaft CampaignStep 3 ResearchStep 4 Networking and InterviewingStep 5 Staying Motivated, Organized and Troubleshooting Your Job SearchStep 6 Negotiating and Closing the OfferWe work very closely with our clients to keep track of each step because there are specific strategies that must be executed well in order to make a great first impression every time. Here are 6 tips to making a great first impression one for each of our six-steps Step 1 Identify Your Target Employers are very impressed when you can articulate exactly what you are looking for. Spend time identifying the industry, the function and the geography that you really, truly want. You dont need to name a specific title perhaps mention the level you are at right now senior, middle-level, entry-level. Step 2 Create a Compelling Marketing Campaign Ensure that your resume has quantifiable accomplishments that have eased the pain of your past employers. Unlike financial instruments, past performance does indicate future success, so write your resume bullets with purpose and everything should be quantified (you reduced errors by 10%, increased profits by 25%, etc.). Step 3 Research Before you interview with someone, research their background on Linked-In (the Facebook for professionals). Research the firm not only by visiting their website, but by talking to anyone you know that works there. Research the competition and know if they are a fierce competitor, or a manageable one. Step 4 Networking and Interviewing like love marriage they go together During all networking functions, ask open ended questions. Ask how they got into the business they are in. Ask what the best part of their job is. Ask what advice they would have for you looking to get into that business. During your interviews mention answer each question with one goal in mind how did you ease the pain of your previous employer. Do you see the pattern here ease their pain get the job Step 5 Staying Motivated, Organized and Troubleshooting Your Job Search Several candidates loose the job because they are on edge and not operating at peak performance and recruiters/hiring managers can sense this. Keep yourself positive during the job search by reading helpful books, watching uplifting movies, and ensuring that you walk at least 30 minutes a day to get those endorphins working Step 6 Negotiating and Closing the Offer Hiring Managers will be very impressed by candidates who know the balance between cash and non-cash. I once had a great candidate who accepted the offer, shook my hand, walked out and then rushed back to ask about the number of weeks vacation, and then asked for an additional week. That welches not very professional and didnt make a good impression. Think of all these issues in advance and a good impression will be made So like everything , practice makes perfect. Practice all steps of the job search and you will make those good first impressions. If you dont feel you know how to gauge your skills, seek out someone who knows a friend in HR, a career coach someone who can get you back on the right track. And as in Field of Dreams, ease their pain and a great impression will be made

How to Have a Successful One-on-One With Your Boss -The Muse
How to Have a Successful One-on-One With Your Boss -The MuseHow to Have a Successful One-on-One With Your Boss Whether youve been working for years or are just starting out, you know that having good one-on-one meetings with your boss is crucial for your success. At best, these meetings can leave both you and your manager feeling productive, energized, and prepared for the week and work ahead. At worst, they can leave you feeling confused, drained, or even hopeless about the path forward. (Reading this article and realizing you dont even have these on your calendar regularly? Heres how to ask your boss to tischset up weekly check-ins.)Heres how to make the most of this time so you get what you need to get ahead. Set an AgendaThe most productive one-on-ones have some kind of structure, which requires you to do some prep beforehand. Basically, dont just show up and chat- youll lose precious time in rambling conversations. Have a clear agenda- you can use this template to create one and send it to your boss before you meet.Share Important Updates (But Keep Them Quick)Its key to share any important updates with your manager- heres what I did last week, heres what Im doing this week, heres the result of X project- but be careful of spending too much time discussing these. Prior to your one-on-one, consider what you want to get out of sharing updates. Remember that you dont have to share everything in person- many things can be explained over emaille or Slack, or in passing over lunch. Instead, prioritize them. Here are some questions to ask yourself to do thisIs this time-sensitive? If its urgent, dont wait for your next meeting to provide an update. Mention anything urgent in real time so your manager can quickly help you before the going gets too tough. How complicated is my update? If you find yourself drafting an essay-length email to your manager, thats a good sign your update is better suited for in person. On the other hand, if its short and sweet, go on and s end over an email, but dont let it cut into precious one-on-one time. Is this an opportunity to share a win? Dont be afraid to share and celebrate your wins. Help your manager see your progress and acknowledge your good work. This also helps your manager share your work with leadership who you might not interact with you on a regular basis. Ask a Lot of QuestionsThe best use of one-on-ones is spent here- debugging a problem, thinking through an obstacle, or gathering feedback or guidance on how to take the next step forward. Ask questions that get to the heart of your concerns. For instance, if youre stuck on a potential strategy, you can ask your manager How would you approach X? My proposed solution is Y, any feedback on this? Its important to notenzeichen that your role as an individual is not only to surface questions but also to provide some initial thoughts on how you might solve these problems. Its okay if your ideas arent fully baked, but make sure youve thought through poten tial solutions, rather than rely fully on your manager to solve those issues for you.Make Commitments Out LoudWhat next steps will you and your manager both agree to? What tasks will your manager commit to taking on, and whats on you to carry forward? Articulate and agree on these commitments in the last part of your one-on-one so youre crystal clear on whats expected between now and your next check-in. This could be as simple as your manager agreeing to send over a report that might be helpful for you, or as complex as you agreeing to have a difficult conversation with a client. Discuss the Long TermNot every one-on-one needs to be about the short-term- remember to discuss long-term goals every now and then. Think about how your manager can help you grow in your career, and ask for feedback to help guide the way. For instance, ask yourself and your boss What am I good at and how can I get to the next level? What are my strengths? What are some gaps in my experience, and what help d o I need to get there? You should send these questions along in advance (a.k.a., in your agenda) so your manager can prepare thoughtful feedback. This also gives you time to self-reflect and prepare for your part of the conversation. These simple changes will help your one-on-ones be more productive and show your manager that youre proactive about managing your work and your career- and confident in your abilities to do so.

Modeling Tips for Successful Underwater Photo Shoots
Modeling Tips for Successful Underwater Photo ShootsModeling Tips for Successful Underwater Photo ShootsHave you noticed the latest underwater photo shoot craze? Everyone from fashion lines to brides and grooms are trying it, and the results are pretty great The shots range from looking spooky to whimsical depending on the lighting, clothing, and poses used. Underwater photo shoots are becoming increasingly popular for designers who make long, flowing dresses because the water works wonders on emphasizing the fabric details. If youre a fashion model, you should be prepared to be asked to do one of these shoots (who doesnt want to be a mermaid for a day?) Here are some tips to help make aya you nail it Safety Is Your Priority Doing anything underwater comes with certain risks, and underwater modeling is no exception. If youre asked to do an underwater shoot, make sure you ask if there will be a person at the shoot whose sole responsibility will be your safety. This person will be there to pull you up when you need to be (remember that youre likely wearing weights) and to make sure youre getting enough oxygen. A lot of models will try to push themselves when they really need to take a break, and a good safety person will keep their eye out for signs youre getting light-headed or in distress. Practice Breathing Techniques Being underwater for any amount of time can be a stressful experience if youre not prepared for it. Many of us have a natural reflex to scrunch our face up underwater while we hold our breath. As you can imagine, this does not make for very good photos. Before you go underwater, take very deep, slow breaths to make sure youre getting as much oxygen to your brain and other organs as possible. These deep breaths will also help calm the nervous system that will make you look more peaceful, natural, and relaxed underwater. Be Well-Rested and Well-Fed Being in water all day will leave you feeling utterly exhausted if you arent physically p repared for it. Before an underwater photo shoot, models must make sure theyve had a solid nights rest and have had a healthy meal that will help keep their energy up. If youre very tired, this will translate to your photos. Underwater photo shoots tend to take much longer than land shoots, so you will also need to be prepared for a longer workday. You will be going up and down and in and out of the water all day, so if you have an empty stomach, you could quickly become light-headed and unable to finish the job Bring Eye Drops Do you remember having red, dry eyes as a kid after spending all day in the pool? This can happen to models doing underwater shoots very quickly, especially considering you will often have to keep your eyes open when youre below the surface. Bring eye drops with you to use between takes to help keep your eyes moisturized and you wont have to fight dry, itchy eyes for days after Move Slowly Quick movements have a place in some types of modeling, but un derwater modeling looks best with slow, fluid movements. If youre making quick movements underwater, not only will you be tiring yourself out quickly, you risk looking unnatural or even as though youre struggling to breathe. Your body will move and float naturally, but keeping your limbs, fingers, and toes elongated will help prevent you from making jerky movements. Underwater models often try dancer poses because these look especially elegant underwater. Just as people have a tendency to scrunch their faces underwater, they often do the same with their fingers and toes. By keeping your focus on elongating your limbs and moving slowly, your photos will not only look better but will help you stay calm and focused underwater as well.

Be sure to assign appropriate work to help ensure that your new employee is neither overwhelmed nor bored in their new job. This one move will get you off to a great start with your new hire.Tap into the potent ial of your new hire As more and moreMillennials and Gen Z workers enter the workforce, the days of seniority-based opportunities become a thing of the past. If employees do not feel challenged, especially Millennial talent, they are likely to move on to a fresh opportunity. Its important to manage your new talent early on. If they can handle the additional workload, continue to introduce new assignments that tap their skills. Be sure to regularly check in to maintain a reasonable balance of assignments and expectations.Develop the job skills of your new hire Both career development and job skill development rank high on the list of what todays Millennial employees want from their employers. These workers want to see career progression within an organization. Doing so will also make your recruitment process easier, encouraging Millennials to consider your company in their job search, as you increase employee retention.Look within before hiring from the outside Leaders often make assumptions about their workers that in many cases turn out to be a misconception. For example, consider how the skills of an administrative assistant can be applied to a different role in the organization. Avoid overlooking a well-qualified internal candidate with the right job skills for a new role in the organization. One way to tap the skills of your current workforce is to take inventory of their job skills. This process can be as simple as creating an Excel spreadsheet and asking your employees to list their job skills along with their proficiency.Alternately, some payroll services or human resource information systems can track your employees job skills, with modules specifically built for tracking job skill development.Be sure your departments are properly staffed Youve spent a lot of time and energy recruiting your new hire. The last thing you want to do is lose them because they are doing the work of two or more people. If indeed an area has more work than the staff can handle, consider bringing in temporary staffing until such time as you can fully staff the rest of your department.Alternately, you can also shift work to another department until your recruitment process catches up with the demand you have for additional staff. Consider outsourcing some of the work while recruiting additional new hires.Be a great role model One of the best ways to encourage the new hire that youve recently recruited, or any hire for that matter, is to be a great role model.Share some of the many ways you are continuing to build your own job skills. For example, invite your new hire to join you at an association meeting that will be a job skill builder for both you and your employee. Let employees know about online courses that will improve their soft skills or technical expertise. As your staffs skills grow, so too will employee retention, employee satisfaction and worker productivity. Your reputation as a great employer will also grow, which will make your ability to recruit a new hire the next time around, that much easier.
